Ingenza Strengthens Team of Modern Apprentices
On the 31st of August 2010 Ingenza welcomed Jonathan Selfridge, 17, to their team of apprentices. Jonathan joins Ingenza from Penicuik High School as a Modern Apprentice (MA) in Life Sciences. Ingenza’s team of Modern Apprentices include Ross Hepplewhite and Kirsty Glendinning, both 18, who joined Ingenza in November 2009 and have gone from strength to strength.
Ingenza undertook the Scottish Government’s ‘2 for 1’ offer when employing Ross and Kirsty last year, this was in partnership with Skills Development Scotland. Ross and Kirsty’s presence and contribution to the team over the past year encouraged Ingenza to add a further apprentice without the help of any governing body.
“Jonathan has settled into work life at Ingenza very well” explained Dr. Ian Archer, Head of Process Development at Ingenza, “Ross and Kirsty are at the stage where they are very heavily relied upon by the other scientists and Jonathan has been able to support their needs, this time next year he will be in the same very strong position as them. We think the MA in Life Sciences gives an excellent and unique combination of academic and practical industrial training.” said Dr. Archer.
Jonathan has joined Ross and Kirsty on day release at Forth Valley College where after his 3-year apprenticeship he will gain an HNC in Life Sciences. Jonathan described his apprenticeship at Ingenza, “Since I started here at Ingenza I have been involved in all aspects of work in the laboratory, I enjoy Chemistry and hope to build on the skills I have learnt.” Jonathan continued “I am fortunate to have found this unique apprenticeship and would recommend it to other school leavers, my parents are very proud of me.”
