Liverpool Science Park Spring Newsletter: Liverpool's Knowledge Quarter
Liverpool Science Park Publish Newsletter for Spring 2010
Liverpool Science Park has published it’s first newsletter of the year, welcoming Chris Musson as Chief Executive Officer. Chris took over as CEO replacing his predecessor Dr Sarah Tasker in September 2009.
The newsletter reports on Liverpool’s thriving Knowledge Quarter and features successful Industry-Academia collaborations catalyzed by MerseyBIO and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
In his opening message, Chris Musson says “This is my first newsletter as CEO of Liverpool Science Park (LSP). It has been an exciting first six months with much to learn; I am very grateful to my predecessor Dr
Sarah Tasker for passing to me such a vibrant, well-regarded organisation and first-class team.
“Despite the challenging economic climate there are many good news stories still to report. Our recently launched ‘Soft Landing Centre’ has attracted new businesses from afar afield as Lithuania, Canada and
Finland. Our Innovation Centers, iC1 and iC2, are home to a community of over 40 exciting companies and numbers continue to grow.
“Research excellence working with business creation is key to unlocking Liverpool’s economic potential - something that the Science Park is helping to facilitate in the heart of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter. In this
newsletter we look at the importance of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter to the City’s current and future economic prosperity. We explore the exciting redevelopment plans for the Royal Hospital site, and the history
behind the world-leading Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. We also focus on some of the Knowledge Quarter’s most innovative companies based both here at LSP and at our sister organisation MerseyBIO.”
Liverpool Science Park was launched in 2006 and is located in the heart of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter, with close association to the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, the Royal
Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and the MerseyBIO Business Incubator.
