BRIO: Helping bioscience companies and graduate level individuals respond to the economic downturn.

The Royal Veterinary College (RVC), in partnership with University College London, has been successful in securing funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) for a new life science focused graduate internship scheme.

The scheme, called BRIO (Bioscience Responds with Internship Opportunities), is a cost effective 8 week internship scheme that will allow your company to recruit a high quality graduate to undertake a workplace project of your choosing.  Graduate-level projects could include lab-based work, market assessments, IP searches, literature reviews, business planning etc.

Interns will be paid a tax-free training stipend of £205 per week for eight weeks.  During their internship they will be provided with 4 days of employability skills training.  Participating companies will be required to pay £400 + VAT.  All other stipend and training costs will be supported by the HEFCE grant.

Funding is available for a total of 35 internships.  A grant stipulation requires that we respond promptly to meet the needs of unemployed graduates and postgraduates, and to support companies during the economic downturn.  We have a minimum of 6 BRIO internships to be placed by the end of March/early April.
